Short version: Doorman works on your Mac, and what it sees stays on your Mac. We don't run analytics, ads or trackers, on the app or on this site.
The app
To do its job, Doorman watches which window is in front, which app opened it, your clipboard and when you type. All of that is processed and stored only on your Mac, in its Application Support folder.
- What you type is never stored or sent anywhere. Doorman only notes that a key was pressed and when.
- Your activity history (which apps tried to take focus, what went to the agent lane) stays on your Mac. Deleting the app's folder removes it.
- Secrets it spots on your clipboard, such as API keys, are checked on your Mac and never leave it.
The app only connects to the internet for two things:
- License checks. When you activate, and now and then afterwards, it sends your license key and the name of your Mac (so you can tell your Macs apart) to Polar's license service.
- Update checks. It asks our update feed whether a new version exists. That request includes your IP address and the app version, like any web request.
Buying a license
Checkout runs on Polar, our Merchant of Record. Polar collects your email, name, billing country and payment details to process the sale, under Polar's privacy policy. We can see your order (email, name, country and what you bought) so we can help with your license and refunds. We never see your full card number.
This website
No cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Fonts and the launch video are served from this site. Our host may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser and pages requested) for a short time to keep the site running and secure.
If you message us
If you DM us on X, we see what you send and your X profile. We use it only to answer you. X's own privacy policy covers the platform.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete your order details from our side, at any time. Some records, such as invoices, Polar may have to keep for tax reasons. Uninstalling Doorman and deleting its folder removes everything it stored on your Mac.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
